Spotify Wrapped Reveal 2025

It’s that time of year again and I will once again be exposing my music taste to the general public via my Spotify Wrapped. For those of you that have spent all this time thinking I’m really cool and mysterious, I apologise, please stop reading now.

I would like to preface this by saying this is an incredibly informal blog post, for any actual posts please see any of my other posts <3

One thing I did appreciate about this year’s Wrapped was that it did include the amount of times the top songs were listened to, so I could see just how far off songs were from making the top 10. Without further adieu my Wrapped:

1. This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody) - Talking Heads

This will come as no surprise to anyone I know, this year I have gotten really into Talking Heads mainly just because not only do I think David Byrne is the coolest person ever, but he is also my style icon. This song is so sweet and it’s everything that I look for in a love song, it’s not sickly but feels familiar. I tried for months to find something else that feels the same as listening to Naïve Melody but alas it stands alone.

2. Track 10 - Charli XCX

This year a pattern will emerge, and it is the amount of love songs in my Top 10. Last year, like most people, I rediscovered Charli XCX after the release of brat, and after I was all bratted out, I looked into some of her previous songs that I had missed over the years. Track 10 keeps to that electronic Hyper-Pop element I loved so much about brat but also leans into the yearning that makes up 97% of my personality.

3. Rock The Casbah - The Clash

Much like Naïve Melody this should come as a shock to no one, Rock the Casbah has been one of my favourites for a good few years now and every time I don’t know what to listen to I will go for Rock the Casbah while I decide what the vibe is. I can’t even begin to explain my love for this song, its a classic, it’s an absolute banger and it should be in everyone’s playlist

4. Bowling Alley - Audrey Hobert

Audrey Hobert is a new one, she just appeared on the scene this year and has immediately taken off. One thing I like about her music is that it’s fun, it’s a little silly, and she doesn’t take herself too seriously. Bowling Alley was one of my favs because it has a somewhat bizarre narrative that is just so fun to listen to.

5. Take My Head - modernlove.

This was a surprise to me, not because I didn’t listen to it but I feel I listened to other songs by this artist more than this one. In saying that this one, much like Charli XCX’s Track 10, has that electronic dance element with lyrical yearning that I live for.

6. Stay awake - haunted images

I have already written about haunted images this year and I was expecting this, when their debut came out this year I did have it play on repeat for several days before I let other music exist in my world again. Stay Awake is a song that really speaks to my former little emo soul, it’s incredible.

7. Know by Now - Ray Bull

I’ve been listening to Ray Bull for a few years now and I love this song, it has a really interesting back and forth conversational element which separates itself from most traditional duets. I am yet to find another song that tickles my brain in the same way.

8. Wet Hair - Audrey Hobert

Audrey Hobert is back and claiming her second spot in my Top 10 with Wet Hair. I will say that I do like this song more than Bowling Alley which made it into the Top 5, but I’m putting this down to the fact that Bowling Alley was released before Wet Hair and it didn’t have the opportunity to rack up the same amount of listening time. Once again, it has the same narrative element that works great with the Pop sound.

9. A Change of Heart- The 1975

Similarly to some of the other songs on this list, this is not one I was expecting, once again not because I don’t listen to The 1975 but because I’m so sure that I’ve listened to other songs a lot more than this one. In that being said I do really enjoy A Change of Heart, I think it’s a staple for any 1975 fan.

10. Basic Being Basic - Djo

This year I became aware of Djo in more than an “End of Beginning” sense, and his album The Crux was one of my favourites this year, the songs all had different sound with a lot of them being very heavily retro inspired but they all seemed to work so well together which I found fascinating.

Well that about wraps it up ( I can’t do one of these without the same overdone pun). One note before we end, I would like to add that I was absolutely taken aback by how few minutes I listened to this year in comparison to last year, I went from 63,534 to 34,810! Basically halved! If anyone finds my missing minutes please return them to me.
