haunted images are giving emo a new name with "Take Me Instead"

Take Me Instead is an infectious Emo anthem released by Irish Alt Rock band haunted images. It is not only one of my favourite tracks released this year, but also just one of my favourite tracks in general, it was released in April as part of their self-titled debut album 'haunted images'. The album itself is a mixture of Shoegaze and Alt Rock with the band themselves usually describing it as Alternative Emo.

Take Me Instead leans more into the Alt Rock side showing some incredible talent with a guitar heavy melody, several electronic elements as well as an incredible guitar solo during the bridge. The majority of the lyrics delve into the human relationship with evil which can be heard from the outset:

“There’s a demon in the front yard/ I think he wants to come inside”.

Throughout the year this track has been one I keep coming back to, I hope to see great things from haunted images in the future.
