North East Indie-rockers The Casbahs have released their single “Roman Numerals”. After initially being put out into the world as part of their 2022 debut album Been Here Before, the song has now been officially released as a single alongside a new lyric video.
Bridging the gap between Alt Rock and Indie Folk, the mellow rhythm, the buzz of the guitars, and bouncing drum beats of the track are reminiscent of iconic British Indie bands such as The Kooks and Arctic Monkeys. However, despite the warm and colourful feel of the track, the lyrics take a more solemn tone, an emotionally-fueled description of personality, with the bridge of the track: “I’m pissed off/ but I don’t mean any harm/ I just don’t want to be roman numerals/ on somebody’s arm” revealing the true vulnerability of the track.
With the mellow, twangy instrumentation and the genuine lyricism of “Roman Numerals”, The Casbahs are really making their mark in the indie scene.
Check out the song and the new lyric video!
