London-based musician James Arlington has made his return to the indie scene with “I’m No Artist”, the first single from his upcoming debut EP that is set for release next year.
“I’m No Artist” is somewhat ironically named given that it comes after a thousand day hiatus which Arlington used to refine his songwriting skills, this in itself is a rather artistic and poetic act. He even gives a little nod to this in the track with the first line “I could wait a thousand days/ but what’s the point of being afraid”.
The simple piano melody puts the emotive and thought-provoking lyricism at the forefront of the song. The track focuses on the contemplation of passing time, loneliness and the feeling of wasting time. The last lyric of the chorus is especially hard-hitting: “Now I think I’m wasting my time/ and I’m wasting my life/ by your side”.
The contemplative and melancholic track that is “I’m No Artist” has left us in anticipation of Arlington’s debut EP, and set him as one to watch in 2025.
Check out the tune!
Thanks for reading!
