Aptøsrs Reveal Elders

Independent Music Award nominated composer, songwriter and producer Paul Terry has unveiled his latest project Aptøsrs with the debut album Elders. Entirely instrumental, this eight-track retro-infused synthwave album could perfectly soundtrack a classic 80s thriller.

The opening track “Rust Mountain” is a perfect introduction to Aptøsrs, starting off with heavy synths and bassy drums that give a dramatic and cinematic feel, which slows down only for a suspenseful build up to bring it back. “Encore, Vredefort” neatly wraps up the album, starting steadily with a moody piano and hints of orchestral elements, with a slow ascent into full instrumentation. With each song the expertly-crafted instrumentation takes you on a journey, almost like a collection of self contained short stories brought together with a common tone.

While the tracks themselves all have a dark ambience to them, each song ranges; from the rich gloom of “Rust Mountain” and “A Peaceful Way to Defy Them All” to the brighter action-packed hue of “Graveyard Syndrome” to the orchestral reverence of “Questionnaires”, each a different story unfolding.

A defining feature of the album itself is the retro-inspired dark and ambient production style. Mixed by Adam Noble (Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves, Don Broco) and mastered by Grammy Award nominee Robin Schmidt (Pixies, Royal Blood, Wolf Alice), Aptøsrs pulled out all the stops to ensure this record is nothing short of mastery.

Elders creates a mesmerising cinematic soundscape that is sure to leave you wanting more.
