Help. It's the boys. They're outside...and they're being Rowdy again...
Irish trio Rowdy Outsider are back with their first track of 2024 and man they have come back with a BANG. This is the third single from their upcoming debut EP set for release this spring, after 2 DEAD CATS and Causing My Insanity which were released in March and July of 2023 respectively.
This song does what many modern bands have failed to do, it perfectly encapsulates that early 2000s Pop-Punk sound you'd expect from the likes of Blink 182 and The All-American Rejects; not only in style but also thematically. I think they've done a great job of translating their inspirations into their own work without directly replicating it.
Contrary to it's Valentine's release date, this isn't a love song but rather a little on the (1, 2, 3) dark side. Despite the high energy, upbeat melody, the lyrics look into the complexities and internal conflict of love and relationships in the modern age:
"When you're gone/
it's all alright/
for a while/
but I just can't help it"
This really gives it that angsty, relatable, dance-away-your-feelings type vibe that was so popular with the classic pop punk music we all know and love. Just an all round banger.
This is definitely my favourite track they've released and I can't wait to hear the rest of the EP when it's released!
Thanks for reading now go have a listen :)
