1. The Japanese House
I have been a Japanese House fan since the Swim Against the Tide EP and with every new release she never fails to impress. Last summer she released her second album In the End It Always Does, four years after her first album. With the anticipation of another album I was so excited when it was finally announced and I was not disappointed. Her music has a dreamlike quality I am yet to find in another artist.
Tracks I would recommend:
- Somebody You Found
- Morning Pages
- Face Like Thunder
2. Ray Bull
Ray Bull is a duo that first entered my radar with their mash ups of popular songs, they both have such unique and enticing voices that fit so well together. After months of only seeing these mash up videos you can imagine my surprise when I found that they had their own original music. The first song I heard of theirs was Know By Now which quite honestly hasn't left my regular music rotation, it just has something about it that can't be replicated.
Tracks I would recommend:
- Know By Now
- Complicated
- The New Thing Dies
3. two blinks, i love you
I only discovered two blinks, i love you a couple of weeks ago and I'm already in love! As a big fan of pizzagirl (musician Liam Brown) I was intrigued to find that he had released more music as two blinks, i love you. The two artists do have a different sound and it's understandable why Brown would want them as two separate entities. In saying that I love both and think everyone should definitely have a listen.
Tracks I would recommend:
- i love you (two blinks edit)
- birthday surprise
- loveseat
4. TogetherEffect
I initially discovered TogetherEffect through social media and after hearing a few snippets of songs decided that it was definitely something worth following along for. They happened to be playing a show in the area I lived in and although the gig wasn't necessarily packed out it was one of the best shows I've been to, and after hearing their music live I was immediately a fan. It's clear they've both put a lot of work into their musical venture and have even built a "world" to go along with their music.
Tracks I would recommend:
Unfortunately TogetherEffect have not released any music at the moment but are set to release their first single "Nature Song" on February 16th!
5. Maisie Peters
This year Maisie Peters seems to have taken the world by storm, with an extensive tour and her song History of Man going viral because of the incredibly well written and ever relevant lyrics. I've been a fan of Maisie for a few years now and I'm glad she's finally getting the recognition she deserves. I can see things only getting better for as more people discover her music.
Tracks I would recommend:
- BSC
- Villain
- The Good Witch
That just about completes my list, thanks for reading!
